Biblioteca comunale di Ortona, fondo Finamore

Vincenzo Finamore’s books are housed at the Public Library of Ortona (Chieti) in a special collection containing the books of his brother Gennaro (1836-1923), physician and folklorist, as well. Cf. the entry by U. Russo, in Dizionario biografico degli italiani, vol. There is an inventory of the volumes (about 1,350), which are only partially shelved. A useful element to identifying the volumes of the two brothers is, besides the publication date, the topic (books about medicine and popular Abruzzo traditions are most probably Gennaro’s). Vincenzo’s philosophical and literary library is small, but indicative of the condition of a young southern Italian intellectual, whose cultural education experienced a decisive change at the moment of the Italian unification.
